Six weeks

Call me weird, but I love images of babies in the womb. People’s reactions are always interesting, usually revulsion, which is strange given that we all started out this way. The shape of the developing baby is alien us, almost monstrous, but in its own way very beautiful and vulnerable. Its hard to show in embroidery, but the translucence of the child makes it luminous with growing life. I’ve made lino cut prints of babies before, but I like the effect of embroidery better, its gentler and more tactile.

Love this idea. Reminds me slightly of the ending of space odyssey 2001 and teardrop music video.
